Welcome to our coverage for the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix from the Marina Bay Circuit. As it stands, Kimi Antonelli is cruising to a first drivers’ title in only his second season and is on course to become the youngest champion in Formula One history, beating Sebastian Vettel by a few years.
His weekend has not been super-impressive so far, but he is doing what he needs to do, finishing fourth in the sprint yesterday and qualifying fourth for the race today. Mercedes have certainly been hauled back in recent rounds. They are still, on average, the fastest team in both race and qualifying trim but Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari have come to the fore.
Red Bull’s resurgence has been significant, with Max Verstappen taking pole and winning in Malaysia last weekend and taking pole and the sprint victory yesterday and pole for the grand prix too. He probably should have been pushed closer by the Ferraris of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc but Hamilton made errors on both of his Q3 flying laps and Leclerc was pipped by less than a tenth.
It is not a particularly easy track to overtake on, so Ferrari have a slight strategic advantage with two cars at the front rather than just Verstappen. Isack Hadjar had a day plagued by technical issues and will start from the back. Still, it is hard to look beyond Verstappen when he is on pole.
Elsewhere, Lando Norris was fifth for McLaren ahead of George Russell in sixth. The Mercedes driver, though, starts from the back after taking a power-unit penalty and will have his work cut out to make it onto the podium, but a safety car period or two may help his cause. The race starts at 1pm BST and we will be here for all of the build-up, live updates and reaction from Marina Bay.
